Comments for Assignment 1

Kodak, Advantix Preview - Team 1

Well done for illustration of the Kodak failure innovation. This case shows us that an ambiguous innovation is a doom for an industry which had to pay for that, even though Kodak was a leader in camera domain before. In my point of view, Kodak rather resisted the innovation under globalization than made a compensation to run after it, for Kodak's strategies at least. Kodak focused the photographic film too much. Therefore, in such a situation, only the ambiguous product innovation was not able to save the languished Kodak. It was not an innovation exactly.

Finally, the research statistics are directly perceived and convictive. Many useful information can be learnt from them.

Nintendo: Please Keep the Ocean Clean - Team 8

I am so happy and excited to see substantial comments from who have the same childrenhood as mine. I liked Nintendo games very much when I was a child.

Back to the topic, I definitely agree the analysis of the reasons why Virtual Boy innovation was failed. Nintendo used its inexperienced technology to make 3D graphic but it was not accepted by consumers. However, many of the innovations do not require tremendous experiences. Nintendo could not lead to a global revolution if every company got a great many experience. Nintendo's rivals Microsoft as well as Sony also made innovation in some domain without experience.

Nintendo forecasted the globalization trend while Virtual Boy contributed to the development of mobile 3D game. However, what I thought is that Nintendo did not set up a accurate strategy in a muturity process of product's life cycle. Consumers found that they did not have wonderful play experience with the poor disign of Virtual Boy.In the recommendation part, to leverage brand strength beyond own hardware and to step up hardware innovation are quiet fabulous solutions for that.

Why Zapmail ulitimately went zapped - Team 3

Thanks for Big Bang Team's particular sharing on the fail of Fedex Zapmail. Many seccessful industries also fail in innovation, so does Fedex. Despite of the inaccurate market analysis and prediction, the lack of sufficient and complete pre-launch testing before introduction to the market is pretty critical. Testing for product or serviceProduct testing seeks to ensure that consumers can understand what products will do for them and which products are the best value. Product testing is a strategy to increase consumer protection by checking the claims made during marketing strategies such as advertising, which by their interest of the entity distributing the service and not necessarily in the interest of the consumer. If some more detailed information about this aspect can be introduced, it is impeccable.

At last, I have learnt a lot from here!
